Me Rambling

Things I do after I hit that Publish button in WordPress!

IMG_0963 copy

  1. Read the post again and again and (oh you must have got the point!)

This is something I do religiously right from my first newbie post till date. I skim and scan and read and pore over my post, looking for any possible mistakes and making sure the spacing, grammar (rules that I know of 😛 ),emoticons everything is in place. One thing which I have noticed is we need to make sure that we have used the correct symbols for the emoticons. For eg. B-) is a symbol for smiley we use normally but in WordPress if you want a “cool” smiley that will not work! Thank God and WordPress for that little life-saver of a button called “Preview”.

  1. Tweet in twitter.

Now if you imagined that am a twitter girl with hundreds following and I get views or traffic multiplying by minute just because I posted there, you got it wrong! 😛 I post there because the blog-gurus told me so 😎 I just started tweeting a month back, and opened a twitter account after I started blogging. (I did have an account in college, but let’s not go there shall we! It was embarrassing enough seeing my old tweets and I decided to delete it and begin a fresh new life in twitter 😉 ) Oh and in case any of you lovely readers are kind enough to follow me , you can follow me at minaxi_vishnu .

  1. The wait for the first like/comment.

giphy

Ah, this one is a classic! Once the post sees the world, I go about waiting for those special souls who likes or comments. (and sometimes when I get both it’s an early Christmas!) In my initial days, the wait was quite long and I used to feel let down. But now thanks to my amazing and incredibly kind and sweet followers, I get motivated quite fast 🙂 Keep em’ coming dearies. Love you all ❤ Your likes and comments are much much appreciated and I am unquestionably being honest to my heart when I say it absolutely makes my day 🙂

  1. Reply to the comment.

So after all that waiting, a beautiful and benevolent soul decided to comment on my post. Woohoo! (Stop dancing and reply idiot) Oh, yes. So what I was telling is I reply to the comment and try to do my best to keep an engaging conversation. I reply the comments as soon as I can. Sometimes I see the comment when I am really busy, so I “like” it when I see it and come back and make sure I do full justice to the reply when I have time.  I love interacting and getting to know you, whether it is a follower whom I already know and have quite a bonding or a new visitor loving the write-up.

  1. Give a visit to my new followers (and follow-back if possible.)

This is something I do very religiously. These wonderful people think I am awesome enough to follow and get notifications in their mailbox or in their WordPress reader so I show them some “blog-love” by visiting them back and like and comment on their posts. And on countless occasions, I have discovered some amazing blogs. Now sometimes I come across a blog where our interests vary like chalk and cheese. :\ I mean once there was a blog on physics who had liked my posts and I just wanted to thank them so I visited their page. O_o But sadly enough I realized having physics sermons on my WordPress reader will be like a revisit to my school lectures (and Physics was definitely a subject with not-so-fond memories for me). So I just liked and commented on a few of the general posts like About Me appreciating their blog, and added how much their visit meant to me and I came back.

I understand that the biggies of the blog-world who get above 100 likes on a single post, it would be impossible to visit each and every follower. But you always know when someone likes and comments when they really like your blog, and want to get to know you more. So my sincere request would be to visit and show some “blog-love” at least to these bloggers. Just my humble opinion. No pressure 🙂

I know some real nice bloggers who have an incredible following but still they see to it that they visit the commenter’s or follower’s page and encourage them continuously. They do not just reply to the comment on their own blog and get about their daily lives. :\ I am so lucky to know a few of these precious gems of the blog-world ❤

  1. Recheck if you have missed comments.

This has happened to me one time. Somehow I did not see the comment of one of my dearest friends and did not reply her. (not from the blogger community though). A few weeks later, I was just checking my old posts and I saw these lovely comments lying unattended.

Gasp !

gasp

How did I miss that? 😦 I have no idea. Now she was a dear old friend and she understood but imagine if it was from a visitor who really loved your blog, and now thinks you are too smug for your own good. O_o . Since then, I always make it a point to revisit my old posts in between and scan for not replied comments.

  1. Keep checking the stats of the post.

This is fun and little addictive! Especially seeing the country part. It is so awe-inspiring to know the different parts of the world from where people are visiting you. Plus, you get a little general knowledge brushed up on the flags of the countries as well 😉

  1. Thank your re-tweeter/ re-blogger.

thanks

Whether in the blog world or twitter, when someone is kind enough to reblog my post, I make sure I thank them. It is a great promotion they gave to my blog and I am so grateful to the awesome people for that.

  1. Share if it has sunk into the sea or risen to victory to your near and dear ones.

Needless to say, my hubby is the one who has to put up with these rants of mine 😀 Whether my favorite post gets enough traffic or it gets sunk without a trace, I keep updating him every now and then. (read every hour 😛 ) In fact in the early days of blogging, when I used to feel quite down about the likes and comments, he created a WordPress profile and started on a liking spree 😛 Thankfully now, I am better and he can concentrate on his studies. 😛 (How much I love that guy who really lives up to his words of “I will do anything to get a smile on your face” ❤ ❤ ❤ )

  1. Plan my next post

Indeed, this is the final step. Sometimes I already have something in my mind which I want to develop on. Or else, I wait till the hour of inspiration strikes me. And the cycle continues. 😉

I would like to thank each and everyone of you who has encouraged me with their likes, comments and follows ❤ It really means a lot to me to know that the time and effort I put in writing an article is appreciated by someone out there. All this encourages me to come up with ideas you can relate to, to go on brainstorming thoughts and try and develop them into something witty and sensible, even if it is from my own experiences.

Like I said, I love interacting and getting to know the face behind that wonderful blog. That part is real inspiring and it has been a great time knowing many wonderful people. And the more I comment, the more I connect with the blogger and most of the time, I end up having a great friend! Comment-chats are so much fun ❤

All you awesome bloggers, what do you do after you publish a post? I am quite eager to know. Both veterans and newbies are welcome to comment ❤

  1. Alright, I have to be honest here. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this post. It’s witty, personal, and a wee bit soul baring. I laughed quite a few times and said things to myself like “Ha! I do that, too”.

I started my blog in October 2015 and I was pretty darn nervous, but also extremely grateful for the chance to have even one person relate to my writing.

Like you, I found myself waiting… For likes. For comments. Eventually they started coming. ❤️ I used to be tied up on the numbers and worried that I wasn’t doing enough for my readers.

Then, I decided to just write from my heart. All the things on your list I have done, too. I adore your writing. Bravo! 🙂

    1. Ah its an early christmas for me 😉 😀 Heehee.. I am sooo glad you could relate to this 😛 And I totally understand when you say atleast one person who relates to your writing 🙂 Its really great to know that its not me alone who keeps waiting for the stats to boom 😛 Loved that you stopped by and shared your experiences Jessica. Thank you 🙂 Hugs ❤

      1. I do not want to sound corny saying you are sweet tooo but you really aaaare ❤ You are an established blogger now and could have easily skipped my post not accepting you went through all this. But you took the time to comment and whats more tell me that these are quite normal 🙂 This is what I meant when I said, I love blogging because I meet these awesome people here ❤

      2. That is a wonderful compliment Jessica 🙂 You know once I had a teacher in my school named Jessica and I used to adore her. So kind and compassionate and knowledgeable as well. You kind of remind me of her 🙂 Hope you are having a great weekend ❤

      1. It’s taken me months and only because I get too busy lately and forget! My kids think it’s silly that I get excited about talking to people from other countries, but I love that. Oldest son is like, that’s why it’s called the world wide web, Mom, lol!

  2. I can totally relate to your post of today, its so true, we sit watching the screen as if it is going to talk to us, but the excitement is great when we get those first few likes and comments, I remember that, and I still feel that way, I love to interact with other bloggers and I love this blogosphere world……. Great to have you here

You totally echo my thoughts, dear resident of the Universe of Utopia ❤ And I am really happy that you stopped by and pitched in your thoughts 🙂 It is indeed great to know the amazing bloggers out here and you with all your inspiring positive posts is a wonderful addition to the world of blogs ❤

    1. Thank you Tony 🙂 Ah, you also fall in the re-reading category 😀 My hubby makes fun of me when I fidget over the spacing and stuff like that. 😛 But I want the blog to look perfect as much as possible and if some extra spaces are going to stand in my way I wont have that 😉

  3. Thank you for making me chuckle this early morning. This is typically my scenario. I am going on a year and still do these things, ha, ha. Though I have eased off on waiting on the first like and checking the stats. I get to those in time eventually. I am still dumb at tweeting. I tweet because I am told to 😉

    1. Seriously. I still dunno how the “twiterrati” works O_o I mean its so random! Still everyone says tweeting is a must and here we are following it 😀 Oh Jacqueline, I know waiting for the likes is the least worry for you 😉 It rains like over there and well-deserved also ❤ I am so happy , you paused by and commented here 🙂

  4. Love this post! I do all the same things. I used to visit every blog that liked my posts but I don’t do that anymore. It became too much. I do however reply to every comment and visit those blogs. 🙂 Your Daffy Duck graphic cracked me up. 🙂

  5. I think all of us bloggers can relate to this. From the minute we start planning our post, to writing it and checking it. From hitting the ‘publish’ button (which is always such an exciting moment) to getting the first like and comment, it’s all a bit of a buzz, isn’t it? I think that only bloggers can really understand the whole process and how addictive it becomes. For me, it’s everything, the writing, from the heart, and connections and friendships that are formed. I find it hard to respond to every new follower that just hits ‘follow’ if there’s no comment attached. But if there is, I’ll always reply. Wonderful post Minaxi with some funny images that made me smile. Keep writing and enjoying! 🙂

    1. Thank you Miriam 🙂 And it means a lot to me that you paused here and narrated your journey through the blogging fare 🙂 I know very well how much you hold the friendship in the blogging world dear to your heart and the followers and likes and comments speaks for your talent 🙂 I understand about the follow part 🙂 You would have to spend your entire day in wordpress if you had to visit each of your followers 😀 Already I can see that you reply to each and every comment personally and I know how much time that takes up 🙂 The blogging journey is indeed exciting and having all these amazing bloggers including you make the journey worthwhile 🙂 Glad that I am one of the reasons you smiled today Miriam ❤ Have a wonderful week ahead. 🙂

  6. Lol… what a hilarious post! 😀 I do most of these things too. You had me chuckling at the part about your poor long-suffering hubby 🙂

I’m not on Twitter yet though. I guess I’m just too lazy to deal with the hassle of yet another social media account 😉 Do you find that Twitter is worth the effort though?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. heehee..ohh yes!! He has been suffering long enough 😉 For 7 years now 😀 I will have something or the other to rant about and it takes a lot of patience to listen to all my ramblings 😛 About twitter, I dunno yet dearie. I mean I login once a day and “like” some tweets, re-tweet our blogger friends events and things which I like. Most of the “twitterati” seem to be on top of that constantly and I am just unable to find time for that O_o Though everyone says if you are a blogger twitter is a must !!

  7. Just discovered your blog! Most of what you wrote made me smile. I do most of what u mentioned except 7 and sometimes I suck at 1 – if I keep checking and re-readING, I’ll never publish anything. Nice to meet you. 😊

    1. Hi Ann 🙂 I feel really happy when someone tells me I made them smile! I always adore people who can bring a smile to other’s lips and to be somewhere in that category is indeed an honor ❤ Thank you for stopping by and leaving me this note 🙂 And on the list, its good you do not do 7 😛 It can get a wee bit addictive 😀 and 1 haha, you have a point there. But I do this after publishing you know 😀 Maybe you can try that too 😉 I will be heading to your blog soon 🙂 Love, Minaxi ❤

      1. 😀 More that I can’t be bothered with #7 because my traffic ain’t that fantastic. :p I do have a peek every once in a while…like once in several months! LOL. Oh yes, I do that too after publishing and then I discovered the typos and grammar mistakes…and each time I read it again, I discovered something else which I missed earlier. Heh! I forgot to mention that I love, love the red streaks on your hair btw. looks good on you. 😀 I’ve always wanted to do the streaks in green or maybe platinum grey. Haven’t found the guts yer. Hahah!

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Thank you for the lovely compliment Ann ❤ Ooh green sounds interesting 😀 But I have always tended to deviate towards red/violet shades. 😉 You can try dark red streaks maybe first and then progress to lighter ones 🙂 It would look great on you I am sure 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      3. I’ll do anything to cover the greying streaks I have now. But maybe, I should all cover it all in platinum blonde! LOL. My parents and husband would argue I;m too old for all the reds, violets and green stuff. Hehhe!

  8. Yep, yep and yep. I do some of these things too. You made me giggle and I love your enthusiasm. It’s contagious. Your posts are so real and honest, I can feel your personality shining through, keep up the great work!

    1. Wow. Today is indeed a wonderful day for me 😀 I made so many people smile/giggle. Wooohooo. (ok done with the happy dance and back to replying 😛 ) Thank you for stopping by Aimee 🙂 I cannot express how much your words mean to me. Those are some of the best compliments I have received in this blogosphere and to be called as real and honest is indeed an honour for me 🙂 Thanks again for your lovely feedback ❤ ❤ I will surely try to meet the expectations 🙂

  9. Well Minaxi, I do a lot of the same things you do, however I preview mine about a million times before I post, tweaking and tweaking and tweaking until I’ve tweaked the tweak out of it!! Yes I do re-read it a couple of times after publishing too, just to make sure it’s tweaked in all the right places!! My Daily Grateful Post, posts at 4:11 a.m. my time and I am not up at that time, so I get to wake up to comments and likes already there waiting for me, I love that! But if I write a poem or story I do sit and watch after publishing for that first like and comment!! You are so funny, this is such a great post, I love your honesty and the best part is you have the most wonderful husband!! You are blessed!!! He’s a keeper and a sweetie-pie. 🙂

    Liked by 2 people

    1. Heehee..Tweaked the tweak out of it 😀 That was hilarious 😀 It is really endearing to know that all my lovely friends are stopping by and letting me know how their blogging journey has been going on ❤ I am so lucky to have you all in my blogosphere ❤ And thanks for your sweet comments Debbie dear 🙂 (if I can call you so 🙂 ) I will tell my hubby that he is getting some promotion as well through my blog 😉 😀 But, yes on a more serious note he is indeed a keeper and am blessed ❤ ❤

  10. I am totally with you on always responding back to comments left and then visiting the site of whoever left the comment and getting to know them! Like you, I’ve met some really cool people by doing this. I can be really slow about responding, but I do always eventually get to it! 🙂

  11. Indeed, quite a relateable post, Minaxi. You know how to engage a person with your words. I found that you have an exceptional art of expression, that can touch the heart of any person. I usually do all that you have mentioned here. I am working hard these days on keeping an engaging conversation, which has always been a tough task for me. But just like you, I love to know new people and make new friends. Blogging is love !!

    1. That was one of the best compliments I have received since I started on this blogging journey and thanks a tonnn for making my day ❤ I sometimes think I ramble on too much and am so so happy you found that I could atleast come close to touching hearts ❤ I agree it is difficult to maintain an engaging conversation, especially when we lack time. Still the blogging community is awesome enough, that even if we are a lil late in replying the comments they acknowledge it with open hearts 🙂 And ohh yes blogging is love indeed ❤

      Liked by 2 people

  12. Yeah exactly, you deserve the compliments. Because we all want you to stay the same and keep touching the hearts of people because there are very few people who take care of others in the way you do. You have a sense of individuality. Its good. I look up to you for so many things. 🙂

    1. Awww thank you 🙂 Thanks a bunch really. I am not so sure if I am someone to be “looked-upon”( that just made me age a 10 years more 😛 ) and I have like a zillion flaws also in me 😀 But, with all that one thing I am proud of is my belief in the positivity of life and the desire to spread it, trying to make things better for those who crib about life , how much ever small the change maybe 🙂 Thanks again for your lovely words and I hope to continue the same by God’s grace 🙂

  13. I can relate to so many of these points! In the early days I use to fret so much about the number of likes etc and be really upset when I’d spent hours writing something and only two people stopped by!
I’ve realised its not about numbers now but the interaction that means much more to me – that said, I’ve not forgotten your comments on my blog (I usually reply straight away) but I wanted to have time to come back and read some of your posts. I really wanted to hear about Brussels but I’ve tried several times now and the post crashes my app 😔 I’m blaming my silly internet speed!

    Liked by 2 people

    1. I sure love the interaction part but I cannot say I am over the likes factor truly 🙂 I appreciate it that you remembered to come back and leave your lovely presence in my blog 🙂
Not sure, why that belgium post is crashing 😦 Maybe since it has more pictures I guess. I hope you do get a chance to read it when you have a laptop/desktop. I have seen that sometimes those work more than the app! Thanks again for dropping by Haylee ❤

  14. Sometimes, if I have a lot of pictures for a post, I’ll put just a couple images into the actual post, and then I’ll put the rest of the pictures in a folder on OneDrive, Google Drive, or Flickr, and then put the link to that folder in the post. As long as you make the specific folder public, anyone who has the link should be able to see them.

That way, people with slower Internet speeds don’t crash, and your pictures won’t use up all your space on WordPress. 🙂

    Liked by 2 people

    1. That is indeed a wonderful idea Vanessa. I must say I have thought about it but I always end up putting them up in my blog post wondering if people would have the time to check these links 🙂 I mean the ones who have time and are genuinely interested would be sure to go over to the links, but then if they have the pics readily accessible then it makes it easier I feel. But then, like you said there is this prob of slower speeds also :\ I always resize my pics before uploading them though.

  15. Fun post, most of this is so familiar to me, hahah! 🙂 I’m a big believer of interaction, too. If you have time to post, then you should have time to answer comments! If not, you’re missing out on a lot! I love the blogger community here on WP 🙂

    1. Thank you for visiting me 🙂 And I like your logic 😀 Makes sense actually. It is just unfair to post something and leave the people who take their time to pause by and comment dangling in the air! The blogger community here is so awesome that even a little bit of love is reciprocated in manifold 🙂

  16. I want to read all of these comments, but you have so MANY 😉 Love this post and I totally agree with #5. I’ve been working on 3 ways that I blog post and that was going to be one of them. You have to have to have to go and show people some love. And also, I so relate to the part about blogs about physics lol

    Liked by 2 people

    1. Heehee. You know, I was actually scared some physics geek would give me a lecture on how it will be good to have some knowledge on physics bestowed on me 😛 But am so glad you think likewise 😉 And yes, this post turned out to be a comment-intensive one since I guess most of the bloggers could relate to it 🙂 I know you follow #5 to the maxim and your followers are indeed lucky 🙂 (including me 😉 )

  17. And what about eating chocolate while waiting for comments? hehe kidding 😀
I appreciate the personal tone of this piece, the order of events and the sincerity with which it is presented. Loved what you did with the font, helping the reader to understand the piece and the pictures added a flare and smiles.
Excellent work my friend! 🙂 🙂

  18. Wow! Wow! Ninja skills! Love, love this!

What do I do? Edit, edit and some more? Check! Share on Twitter and LinkedIn? Check! Check stats? When I remember! Socialize with other bloggers? Learning, learning!! I get caught up with other writing and creating projects so that’s not always easy to accomplish… But I try!

    Thanks for sharing!
    Peace,

But while we are talking about points may I remind you #5 is about trying to follow the new followers but you are not yet my follower 😉 Just kidding . I am onto your blog right after I reply your comments 🙂

  21. This is so on spot, i was all smiles reading this. Almost like you were talking about me haha.
There’s one thing i came across in this blogging world while posting my posts.
Usually, on the days i decide today the post is ready, final touches and publish it by evening… I end up delaying and by the time i click that publish tab, it is late at night. So all that tiredness gets me to sleep right after it.Here’s the best part..
When i wake up in the morning, and i come to see what just happened to our blog.. that morning after i pressed publish makes me feel like i’m at the top of the world .☺
So i started clicking that publish late at nights mostly ☺☺ – Cezane

And I love the way you make special mention about your dear hubby in every single post you write.. Stay blessed dear :-* There can be nothing to stop you! Looottttss of love ❤ ❤ ❤
